Personalized Koozies

If you haven't picked up on it yet, I am a monogram freak. I LOVE them. I have necklaces, bags, cups, cases, you name it and I probably have it monogrammed. My recent monogrammed obsession is based off my love for Koozies. My good pal CoCo taught me to always carry a koozie (or two) and man was she right! While the bartenders tend to give me funny looks, my hand is always warm and my beer is always cold.

So how did I solve my pressing need for a monogrammed koozie? ETSY!!! If you have not played around on etsy.com then you are really missing out. Handmade and vintage items are at your disposal. When I found out I could get koozies monogrammed for $8 a pop, I was sold :)

Chappyslab custom made 20 koozies for me for my 25 birthday bash!!! They rule!!! They even made a special purple and pink one just for me! Click HERE for her site on Etsy.

I also ordered my own very special monogrammed koozie just for fun! It came from alwayssassy! Click HERE for her site! They were only $8 also!!!

And of course my lovely friends at Mrs. Polka Dot can do monogrammed koozies! And I have heard rumors that they can make a special skinny one for Michael Ultra Cans...and of course I absolutely MUST have one of those!!!!

Lemon Garlic Chicken with Creamed Corn

Double Post Time---I just had to do a shout out to my loverly mother who made this loverly meal for me. I gobbled it up! And went back for seconds...and stared at the leftovers in the fridge and convinced myself that I did NOT need thirds (dumb).

Anyone that knows my mother knows that she is an absolutely fabulous cook, so normally when she offers to whip up something new, I am game. BUT a few days ago she cooked up one of the yummiest things I think I have ever had!!! She said it was the FoodNetwork Recipe of the Day and man oh man was it stellar!

Don't tell anyone but I actually said out loud "I would rather eat this then a fried chicken leg any day!" Blasphemy I know, but look at this recipe and you will see why...

Lemon Garlic Chicken with Creamed Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 skin-on chicken drumsticks (about 1 pound)
  • 4 skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs (about 1 1/2 pounds)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 12 cloves garlic (about 1 head)
  • 2 lemons (finely grated zest of one, juice of both)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pound frozen corn, thawed
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Directions

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle the chicken with 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper, and 2 tablespoons flour. Add to the skillet and cook, turning, until slightly golden on all sides, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, lemon zest and lemon juice and turn the chicken to coat. Transfer the skillet to the oven; roast until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the corn and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until the corn softens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon flour, then add the milk and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low and simmer, stirring, until thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the chives and season with salt and pepper.

Divide the chicken among plates and drizzle with the pan juices. Serve with the creamed corn.

Finger nail polish to class-ify shoes?

Summer may have gotten the best of me...My reason for not blogging? I have been sitting on the beach and reading (about a book a day!). So do I feel guilty? Of course I do (no, not at all!). While sitting on the beach I was pondering what to blog about next and I was coming up empty handed! I know---shocking. There is just way too much to blog about and I come up with nothing? Ahh! So I turn to my good pal Pinterest and low and behold, I am inspired...

So one of my lofty goals in life is to one day be able to buy (and afford) a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes... I saw lofty because let's face it, those are sooo expensive!!! But man oh man do I want them. Well this clever gal from Fashionlushxx.com came up with a her own version using nail polish!!! She takes shoes that are a little worn and jazzes them up with a fresh coat of paint. What a BRILLIANT idea! And I have lots of shoes that need some re-vamping!!! Click HERE for her original post with ideas on how to do it.

I am actually quite jealous of her creativity...especially since my ideas of using nail polish include: painting nails, sealing runs in pantyhose, marking frogs, toads, and turtles to be raced in Epworth (which I have now learned is just plain cruel to them) and...yep, that is about it. So my new mission for the week (good thing it is friday) is to think of creative things to do with fingernail polish!!!

Ideas so far: do do do do do do do (to be hummed to the tune of jeopardy)...ummm paint things? Let's just say I am working on it and leave it at that.

Ketchup to go!

Ok I feel certain this blog post is like no other before...yes it revolves around Ketchup. Call me crazy, but I just can't help myself.

Confession time...I LOVE KETCHUP! If somewhere were to tell me I could never have ketchup again I am not sure what I would do. It would suck that is for sure. You know you have a ketchup addiction when you go to visit your best friend for three days and she makes sure to have a new bottle on hand just because you are coming :) Thanks Nat for indulging my addiction.

I am currently in Ludington, MI which is the definition of smalltown USA, but they have a Meijer--aka a northern walmart, though I am told they have them everywhere they have not graced the streets of Little Rock, AR. Meijers has everything you could ever want...including the coolest new invention for Ketchup. Everyone has their favorite brand...mine is Heinz hands down. I'm also sure most everyone has seen the cutesy little packets at Chik-fil-a (you can buy them at the grocery store too), but this new form takes the cake!!

It looks like those new applesauce/kids food packets that you can take on the go, but it is KETCHUP! Going on a picnic? You need this. Riding in the car for forever? You need this. Love ketchup so much that you are addicted? You need this. I have decided it might need to stay in my car permanently in case there is some ketchup related emergency. Now if they could put taco bell Fire sauce in a packet like this my life would be 100 percent complete. The best part of all IT IS ONLY .99 CENTS!!!! AHHH!!! So if your love for ketchup surpasses all other condiments then go out and find ya some!!!
